Abbe Flap surgery: To have it or not to have it???

Today I saw my surgeon for my annual visit and I was advised of this procedure.
I'm nearly 23 and was told this would be my last op, but it's up to me whether I go through with it or not...
I've never really had to make a decision about surgery before - it was just required, no questions asked.
Now I have to decide so I'm really not sure! It sounds extremely uncomfortable, having your lips stitched together for nearly 2 weeks, so I don't know if it's worth it or not...
I'd appreciate any information about this procedure - especially if you've been through it yourself.
