Speech

Postby Kari » Fri Mar 13, 1998 9:16 pm

I am the parent of a 3 year old boy. I am having great
difficulty finding a good speech therapist. I know that speech is
going to effect my son for the rest of his life and want to
provide the best possible therapy. Does anyone have any
suggestions. What can I do at home or how do I find a good
therapist for him?

Hi Kari, Is your child currently being treated by a team of
physicians and specialists? Usually a Speech Therapist is among
the team. If not, ask the team for a referral. If you do not have
a team treating your child, ask the surgeon or the hospital. The
sooner the child begins speech therapy, the better the outcome.
Good luck.

Just want to thank annmarie for responding and would love to
chat via e-mail with her or anyone else regarding clefts. My
e-mail address is Kazy308@aol.com. Thanx.
