Cleft palate repairs

A 3yr old child was brought to me for opinion regarding his
cleft palate. He has brain damage and he physically he looks like
a 2yr. His plastic surgeon has advised to delay the palate repair
to a later date. Lip repair was completed when he was 1yr old. He
developes chronic ear infection and has difficulties in
swallowing his food. Has anyone any experience in this type of
case. Please feel free to e-mail directly to me and give me your
opinion. What is the right age to do palate repairs and how long
can the patient wait. How do you manage this case esp when he
also has brain damage.
