Hello. New Mum stopping in to say Hi :)

Postby TimmsMum » Mon Jan 26, 1998 5:47 am

Hello. I am the very proud mother of a beautiul 20 month old
boy called Timm. He was born with a Bi-Lateral Cleft Lip and no
Palate. His Soft Palate was also cleft. We were unaware until the
birth that he was cleft - affected, but all I cared about at that
time was "was it going to kill him?" Of course, the
doctor said "no" and I just wanted to hold him from
that moment on!! After nearly losing our frist child 7 times in
the first four months of life and then having to have him heavily
medicated until his 1st birthday I figured I could handle
anything that didn't threaten the life of my child.

Timm has had his lip repaired as well as his Palate closed.
He now has a Speech Delay which sin't cleft related (his bigger
brother also had this complaint and after 2 years of therapy has
beautiful speech now :) ).

Timm is such a happy baby.. with a gorgeous smile. If you
want to view his pictures go here:

The file size may be a little large at the moment.. we're
working on that :)

I'm happy to email/talk to others... my email addy is
ssam@wantree.com.au As you may tell.. I'm from Australia...

Thanks for listening... the page is being constantly
updated.. and I have now bookmarked this one.. to come back often
:)

Take Care.

Hi Mum of Timm,

I just visited your site and wanted to tell all other
visitors who are reading these posts that they should visit your
site for a dose of hope for the future for their clefted
child(ren).

I am a 32 year old female who was born with a bi-lateral
cleft lip, but with a bi-lateral palate. It was nice for me to
see clear, close up pictures of someone who has something similar
to what I have. Unfortunately, during my childhood, my family did
not take many pictures, especially color photos, that were clear.
Thanks for a nice site. Good luck to you and your family.
