Ear drainage question

Postby Heide » Thu May 24, 2007 11:12 am

Hello, as I sit down to pose this question, I am struggling to make it not sound "icky" but then with babies, nothing is really icky is it? Our little one, 16 months, has the lip and palate surgery behind her. She has also had ear tubes for almost a year. For the past two months, her one ear has quite a bit of drainage at least every other day. We have been given antibiotic ear drops and have another appointment with the ENT today. Has anyone a similar issue and is there any advice? Thank you, Heide

Heide, we did have a similar episode with Jackson. It went on for about a month, and the ENT finally put him on an oral antibiotic. Apparently the drops weren't getting deep enough to get rid of the infection. We haven't had any problems since then. Hope that helps!

Hi Allison, thank you and, guess what, we got oral antibiotics. the ENT was also suggested that, since she was on oral antibiotics recently, we replace the tube so that he can "clean out behind the tube" to try and get rid of anything that might be there. We will give that a try. Thanks you for your reply. Heide
