pharyngeal flap surgery

I am a Mother of a seven year old girl that was born with a cleft of both the hard and soft palates. She had her surgery at 6 months old and did wonderfully. However this last year she has had to enter into speech therapy, after 3 months of therapy I had to take her to a specialist. Now we are being told she has to have pharyngeal flap surgery because of the nasal sound when she speaks. I was wondering if anyone here has a child that has been through this surgery. All the information I am getting is helpful, yet there are a lot of side effects with this surgery. If anyone has had to go through this surgery any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank- you.
