Cleft lip surgery recovery

Hi, I am new to this forum. I have a 6 month old son with unilateral cleft lip and palate. He had his lip repaired February 5th. He is doing well, but is still quite swollen. I was wondering if anyone knew how long he should have the swollen lip. I think he may still have some discomfort because of the swelling. Anyone had this issue after lip repair? I would appreciate any advice or input anyone has.

Thanks!

Hi and welcome. our little one was swollen for a good 3 weeks after her lip repair (bilateral). It was done almost one year ago and like the plastic surgeon has said, her lip has changed through this year, I am not sure if it is due to scar tissue, normal growth or both. Hope this helps.

Hello. My son Eyson, born unilateral cleft lip and bilateral cleft palate, was swollen more in his nose for about three weeks also. Once his stints were removed there was a very noticeable difference in the swelling. If you are that concerned about it, contact the surgeon's office. I'm sure they will be more than happy to answer your questions.
