FAMOUS PEOPLE WITH EXPERIENCE WITH FACIAL DIFFERENCES

Postby gc0447 » Sat Feb 24, 2007 6:41 pm

Hello everbody. How is everyone doing? I hope you are all doing well. Anyway, I was wondering if you all can help me with something.

I was wondering if any of you know any famous people (Movie stars, athletes, singers, etc.) who has had a Personal experience with a facial difference (Craniofacial/Cleft Deformity, facial injury etc.). These are the only people who I know that fall in that category:

Again, if any of you know anyone else, would you please let me know? That would be wonderful. Thank you so much, everybody.

Sincerely,

Hello,

How are you Georgette? We are OK here in Finland.

This is a good idea to find celebs with deformities. I heard this rumor that Joaquin Phoenix had a cleft lip????? Well here is pics from him.

Dear Hilla,

Hi. It's Georgette Couvall (Dr. Salyer's patient: http://www.worldcf.org). How are you? Thanks for responding to my post and thank you for the link. Where is Joaquin Phoenix from?

I think it would be good to find a famous person with a facial difference who is from Illinois (USA) because the event is going to be in Chicago, Illinois (USA).

Thank you so much. I appreciate your help.

Sincerely,

Georgette Couvall

Hello,

I totally thought that Joaquin Phoenix was from U.S?? I am not sure where he is living at the moment, but I assume, that in U.S (I am not sure about the State though). He was one of the actors in the Gladiator movie which is pretty famous. And I thought that we were looking just famous celebs over all.

Hi Ladies I thought Joaquin Phoenix was an Aussie just like us can't be sure of that though. I know he's name was use when we met our p/s. When he brought up people that are well known with clefts may be it was the morphine that made me think he was an Aussie.

Joaquin Phoenix was born with a microform cleft lip. Stacey Keach was born with a complete unilateral cleft lip and palate. If you look carefully, you can see that Tom Brokaw was born with a bilateral cleft lip and palate if I'm correct.

Does anyone know where Blaise Winter is from?

Postby gc0447 » Fri Mar 02, 2007 12:01 am

Hi. everybody. How is everyone doing? I hope you are all doing well. I did a little more research today about famous people with facial differences and I came across this website:

http://www.widesmiles.org/people/who.html

One of the people on this website is Blaise Winter, a former Green Bay Packers (Wisconsin) football player who was born with a Cleft Deformity.

I'm assuming that he is still in Wisconsin. Does anyone know for sure where he is from presently (at this time)?

My Craniofacial/Cleft Surgeon (Dr. Salyer: Founder & Chairman of the World Craniofacial Foundation: http://www.worldcf.org) is doing a fundraiser in Chicago at the Metropolitan Club (http://www.metclubchicago.com) on Saturday, June 23rd.

Therefore, I thought it would be nice to have a Special Guest (Actor/Actress, Musician, Athlete, etc.) for this event, one who has gone through a facial difference (Craniofacial/Cleft Deformity, facial injury, etc.), and who is from Illinois (or near Illinois) because the fundraiser is going to take place in Chicago, Illinois.

Thank you for all your help, everybody. I appreciate it.

Sincerely,

Blaise Winter was born with a cleft lip (unilateral?) and a cleft palate. He was also largely deaf in one ear. He grew up in Rockland County, New York which is on the west side of the Hudson River opposite Westchester County, New York.

BLAISE WINTER

Postby gc0447 » Sat Mar 03, 2007 2:12 am

Dear Jeff,

Hi. How are you? Thank you so much for your response. Yes, I was doing some more research about famous people with Cleft Deformities, and Blaise Winter's name came up. I first found him on this website:

http://www.widesmiles.org/people/who.html

Then, I found these websites about him:

http://www.lutzagency.com/winterb.htm
http://www.blaisewinter.com

From what I read, he is currently in Wisconsin, which is great because the fundraiser is going to take place in Chicago, Illinois, so it's not a long trip for him to travel if he chooses to be our Special Guest for the event.

Am I right? Is he living in Wisconsin?

Thank you so much.

Sincerely,

wikipedia list of famous people born with cleft

Postby Linda S S » Thu Aug 23, 2007 6:33 pm

Famous people born with a cleft

Historical

Tutankhamun Egyptian Pharaoh who may have had a cleft lip according to diagnostic imaging [18]
Doc Holliday Dentist, gambler and gunfighter of the American Old West frontier
Tad Lincoln Fourth and youngest son of President Abraham Lincoln [19]
Thomas Malthus 18th and 19th Century English demographer and political economist

Modern

Carmit Bachar American dancer and singer
Jürgen Habermas German philosopher and sociologist
Wendy Harmer Australian comedian
Michael Helm Canadian novelist
Jesse Jackson American politician, professional civil rights activist and Baptist minister
Stacy Keach American actor and narrator [20]
Tim Lott English novelist
Rita MacNeil Canadian country and folk singer
Geoff Plant Canadian lawyer and politician, Attorney-General of British Columbia
Nikki Payne Canadian comedian and actress
Eric Edgar Cooke Criminal, the last person to be hanged in Western Australia
Richard Hawley English guitarist, singer, songwriter and producer
The popular belief that Joaquin Phoenix has a cleft lip is mistaken. The mark on his lip is a microform, an almost-cleft that healed itself in utero. If the tissues joined up just enough to create correct bone and muscle tissues, no corrective surgery is required, as is the case with Phoenix.
