needs more surgery for cleft soft palate

Postby Daddy's butterfly » Sun Dec 24, 2006 9:14 am

I'm so upset. We brought Gabriella for her post up visit. All did not heal well and some tissue broke done between the hard and soft palate. The doctor now said, she'll need a second surgery. He said not as long, but still its another surgery in about 6 weeks. This time he'll take a little tissue from inside her cheek and use it to make a flap. I'm so frustrated! I can't believe we have to go thru this again. To make matters worse, she still can't have solids for another week. My baby is looking very thin. Does anybody have an input?

I hope for you and your daughter that the second attempt to repair her cleft soft palate is successful. Most of the time, a cleft soft palate is repaired with one surgery. Sometimes it can take two surgeries to correct it.
