My husband and I just found out that our baby will be born with a small unilateral cleft lip. We are trying to find pictures but all we see are pics with babies who are born with severe cleft lips, or cleft lips AND palate but that is not our case. We just want to be prepared when the baby is born. Also we're waiting for the amnio results because our doctor said that Down Syndrome can be associated with cleft lips! Any comments?
Thank you in advance!

Welcome! You will find alot of support here. We all have been where you're at now! Try not to worry about the test results. I chose not to get the amnio done, b/c I was told that clefts don't always go with other deformities. My U/S showed a cleft lip that seemed to go all the way up to the nose. We weren't sure about the palate. When he was born, he was beautiful!!!! It was no where near what I had expected. His palate is fine & he is nursing wonderfully. Good luck to you. Here's a picture of my Dino Joseph.

Thank you so much for your reply. Your baby is absolutely beautiful...I did the ultrasound at 18 weeks so I hope that what they saw with the cleft lip is not worse than that.

Hello! I have an 8 month old little guy who was born with a unilateral cleft lip only. He had his lip repair done at 3 1/2 months and looks amazing now. We, too, looked for as many pictures as we could find to prepare ourselves. Here are a few of my little guy:

And here he is a few weeks ago!
