Hello, it's 4:00 a.m. Skylar is up, because she is hungry. She can't eat though. She is due to her have palate surgery this morning. I hope they go through with it. She has a ear infection and a small runny nose. Please pray for her.

Sorry I haven't been writing lately, I've been extremely busy!

Carrie,
I hope all goes well with Skylar today. It wouldn't be great if they postponed the surgery but if they do it's most likely for the best. Let us know how it goes. Best Wishes.

Skylar's surgery is probably over by now; I hope that it went well.

I recollect my son's palate surgery. Coming out of surgery it was not a good site. Like every baby we know, he did recover very quickly.

Keep us updated. You are in our prayers.

How is Skylar? My baby is having lip and palate repair next tuesday and the fear factor is beginning to start. Feel sick when I think of it. I hope your baby is ok now and mine will recover quickly too.

It went very well! It was easier than the lip repair. She is doing great. I am very happy with how it went. She was less swollen & in less pain then the lip repair. I am glad they went through with the surgery, even though she had runny nose & ear infection.

Here is a tip I read, that I didn't know:

Do NOT pull the dry blood out of their nose! It could be the front of a clot, that is attached to the surgery sight. If it is, you could cause major bleeding. So, right now Skylar has this big dry blood booger in one nose. Not pretty, but better to leave it be.

Good luck Jude2, You child will do great! The morphine the first day & 1/2 was a great pain relief. (while they are in the hospital) Make sure they give it to your child. It is instant pain relief.

Carrie, I just wanted to send a note to say I am glad Skylar's surgery went well. I hope her recovery is quick. Also, thank you for the advice, I am making a note of it when we go through the palate surgery. Heide

Skylar's surgery and recovery went very well. HOWEVER, the nights have been horrible! What I didn't know was when they close the palate up, Skylar is not used to the pressure of it closed. It causes pressure on their ears they are not used to. Also, there is a such thing as "night terrors". Skylar had them so badly. She would take up screaming & it would take me a long time to get her settled down. I took her to the er andthey said it's from the meds & anesthesia and the trauma of going through it.

Those are two things I wasn't prepared for.
