Bonegraft next week!

Postby Hannah » Mon Jan 23, 2006 6:54 pm

I was just wondering if anyone had any experience of having bone taken from their skulls? I'm 28 and was born with a facial cleft (tessier cleft). I've had 13 operations and had decided not to have any more until I had a consultation with a new surgeon who is planning to take bone from my skull and graft it onto my cheek and lower eye socket where I have bone missing. I've had bone taken from my hip before so I know what that is like but I'm nervous about them cracking open my nut and taking bone from my skull. If anyone has experience of bone being taken from the same place I would really appreciate some feedback as to whether it's very painful and how long it took to recover. I'm going in next thursday and nothing will stop me (looking forward to a few weeks off work!) but if anyone can put my mind at rest I would appreciate it!
Thanks
