submucous cleft -?

Postby Pamela Bowen » Mon Dec 21, 1998 7:25 am

I have 12month old and we have had a terrible time with food -
He can not eat any solids without throwing up and gagging on it
even babyfood. They say they think it is a submucous cleft and I
am just trying to find out anything I can so that i have some
knowledge before we get to Arkansas Childrens hospital. If
anyonehas dealt with this please give me symptoms and experiences
that may help me with this mystery. I am at a loss and my baby is
my life.

Dont worry ! sometimes submucous cleft palate doesnot affect speech unless adenoidectomy is done then the effect is quite obvious ! so it is one of the biggest mistake to perform adenoid surgergy to submucous cleft palate patients
