clef lip

I read with much interest your article regarding clef lip. My
son has just been born with a slight clef lip (12/04/1999). Me
and my family are very much in the dark regarding this. Any
information would be much appreciated and any support would be
even better.

Yours.

Hi Alan! Did you know about your son' cleft before he was
born? What kind of info would you like to hear? It has been a
year since my daughter's surgery for a unilateral cleft lip, and
most of the time I tend to forget about it because the surgery
was so successful. I can assure you that I learned that if a
unilateral cleft lip is all that your son has, you should feel
blessed. I am a nursing student, so I have seen a lot of things,
but the first time my daughter & I went to the children's
hospital where her surgery was performed, I just couldn't believe
how blessed we were. I am not trying to downplay the emotions
that are felt around a child's cleft, but at least it is not life
threatening.

Anyway, let me know of any help I can be, or any question's
you might have Bye Jennifer
