Postby Anonymous » Mon Sep 21, 1998 4:24 am

I was born with cleft palate and is now an adult. I am
planning to have my jaw advancement surgery but I don't know much
details! Can anyone who have it before post the relevant
information here. By the way, I don't know is there any
organisation of cleft in Hong Kong? If anyone knows, pls advice
me! Thanks a lot!

Not sure if you are referring to the surgery I had in 1991. I
had my top jaw moved forward. This involved taking bone from my
hip. And my bottom jaw was moved back. The names of the surgeries
were LeForte II, and bi-lateral sagittal splits. If this is the
surgery you are having, I can tell you a lot about my experience.
If not, my information may not be helpful. Please respond via
email or post.

I am supposed to be having a jaw advancement surgery, well
itis more like a patching up surgery where they are going to
stick a piece of my hip on my mouth. My upper jaw is wider than
my lower jaw suppose.

If a nyone around here has had this surgery or know about it
would greatly appreciate your help

Thanks.
