Allergies and Anesthesia

Postby Kak » Wed Jul 26, 2000 6:26 am

We just found out that our daughter is extrememly allergic to many foods (daily, eggs, wheat, peanuts, pork, tomatoes, and more) and many environmental allergens (mold, dust, cats, horses, and more). Is it important to let the anesthesiologist and plastic surgeon know this? I once heard that medications and some food products are linked. Please let me know your thoughts on this.

Let the surgeons know as much info as you can and ask them if there are
any extra risks to be considered because of your daughters allergies.

My little girl has very sensitive skin and reacted to the tape they put on
her face for her lip repair - until this time I had not realised she was so
sensitive - for the second op they used different tape!! So inform them.

Good luck to you all
