Pharyngeal Flap

Postby macarley@home.com » Mon Apr 17, 2000 5:54 pm

My son will be having pharyngeal flap surgery at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto shortly. He is 5 1/2 years old and I am very nervous about all of this. Has anyone's child had this done recently and if so, are you pleased with the results? Also, how did you find the hospital stay and recovery time? Any comments would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

I had a flap many years ago!!! I was 3 years old at the time-- now i'm 19!!! Anyways-- it helped me incredibly-- i went from hardly talking-- very nasaly-- now my speech is wonderful. It is not recognizable that i have a clp anymore!!! Are they going to tie his tongue? I would really suggest staying over night with him!!! Do you have some other questions I can help you with? Here for you!!! Luv, Anna
