I understand that there is a 70% chance of a baby having a cleft palate when the unltrasound shows a cleft lip. I was just wondering how heredity is involved. Is there a greater chance of the lip/palate combination when heredity is involved or just the opposite. There is more of a chance when the cause is virus etc.

Did the ultrasound show a cleft lip and also palate? I understand a cleft palate can't be seen in an ultrasound. Dr just said she had a virus. It was while all the flu was going around.
