Make-up use to Cover up or Enhance?

I was wondering what is the opinion of using cover-up make-up
on cleft lip scars, lip liner pencils to "true" the lip
line and lip stick? Do you feel you get a good result from using
these products or do you like to appear natural? Opinions?

Also, if you can make recommendations of products that work
for you. Thanks.

HELLO, HAVE YOU TRIED DERMABLEND FOUNDATION? I USE IT FOR
FACIAL SCARS (NOT FROM CLEFT LIP BUT FROM ACNE) AND IT WORKS
GREAT COVERS EVERYTHING. THEY HAVE ALL KINDS OF BLENDS AND SHADES
I HAVE TO BUY TWO JARS AND MIX THEM FOR MY EXACT COMPLEXTION
SHADE BUT ITS WORTH IT. GOOD LUCK

Hi. I am 20 and have been using makeup to hide my scars
forever (ok...since 5th grade)

Lip liners are essential in making the lip line look natural
and even. I find that darker colors work better than pale shades
(I like brown-reds, but I also have dark brown hair and pale
skin) I also find that mositurizing the lip area will reduce
"feathering" of both the lipstick and liner.

As for brands, I started off with maybeline and cover girl. I
resently started using Clinque, especially long lasting formulas
(must I use a lip balm before hand)

One more note. As I have matured, I tend to notice the scar
less. Somedays I leave my house with only lip balm (which would
have been unthinkable 3 yrs ago) I wouldn't say that I depend on
makeup for my self esteem, but it helps me feel
"normal" - and I actually think I've spent more time
learning the proper ways to apply (both lipstick and concealler)
than the average woman. Maybe my calling was makeup artist
(although I'm currently studying to be a geneticist)
