Snack foods for Cleft palate - 8 month old - Hints?

Have 8 month old with bi-lateral cleft palate - he has a twin who is now snacking on cheerios, crackers, etc. and ideas as to what I can give him he may enjoy and not choke?

While my son had only a complete unilateral cleft, I fed him the same things as I did his brothers at that age. Sure, some foods would go up and come out his nose. He would cry, I would cry, and then we would move on. You would be surprised at how they adapt to eat what they want. Just make sure he's sitting upright and give it a shot - little bites at a time!
