Cleft Palate & Speech Problems Please Help

Hi My 11 mo old son will have cp surgery soon. Due to surgery scheduling it may be dealyed 2 months.I am concerned abt his speech dev. Is there a critical time frame for speech development, he is making alot of sounds does say MAA. If any one has some info about this please write, I am trying to get Dr to do surgery sooner. I have read in these articles SOoner the better. Please advise- Thanks so much.
