NASAL STUFFINESS AFTER PHARYNGEAL FLAP

Postby macarley@home.com » Tue Mar 06, 2001 10:12 am

My son had flap surgery at age 5 1/2, in May of 2000.
It was very successful and his speech has improved dramatically.
However, I find that he often sounds stuffy and this happens
in both summer and winter so it is not always because he has
a cold. We have had him tested for allergies and he has none
so that is not the problem. I have tried those nasal strips
on his nose that athletes wear and with it on he sounds great -
of course he can't wear that to school every day. He is not
a big snorer after the surgery as some kids are.

Anyone with this problem? Is it something he will grow out of
as he gets older? He sounds so great when he is not stuffy, I
want it like that all the time!

Please reply to my personal e-mail if possible at

I can atest to you that is may take a bit of time before all sweeling goes down. This could possibly mean many months. Scar tissues a a bit harder to heal-but will. Let it be checked by the DR. but if all checks out-relax and except the time of healing. Robin Sauls
