My case is very unoticeable, I had a great plastic surgeon! I
am however, worried about my child. Not that i would not love it
because I have received unconditional love! I am only wondering
if it is possible for me to have a child with a cleft lip? or
palate?

I'm 26 and cleft also (both lip and palate)and just gave birth
to a non-cleft baby 4 months ago. I don't know what the chances
are, but you can decrease the chances by taking folic acid during
the first few weeks of the pregnancy, either in foods or vitamin
pills. That lack of folic acid is what is believed to be one of
the causes of clefts. Folic acid also helps prevent spinal bifida
and other defects.







But I'm not a medical expert, I just know this from what my
ob/gyn told me. Best to consult your doctor (as with any
medical advice you find on the web)...

Hello Shannon, I too was born with a cleft, also hardly
noticable. I am 25 years old and 11 weeks pregnant. I am scared,
I won't love the baby any less but I would still like to have a
