soft palate repair

Postby kasy » Tue Jun 01, 1999 10:46 am

My daughter, 19 mo. had her soft palate repaired. She stayed
for 4 days in the hospital since she refused to eat and drink.
She wore her restraints for 2 long weeks. She was very quiet
afterwards and still is. She has always been a quiet kid though.
Anyways she used to "talk" more but now she doesn't say
much. It has only been 5 weeks since but she is still recovering.
Don't expect your child to bounce back immediately. Good luck.

My 16 month old son had his soft palate repaired on Wednesday
June 23rd and we were very fortunate his went so well.He required
medication the first 24 hours but only a couple of times since,he
was smiling and playing like normal within 36 hours of surgery.I
was very worried it would be much worse than it was .the only
noticable difference is the tone of his voice,it is now deeper
than before.I would like to reassure any parent that will be
having this repair in the future it is far easier than you could
ever imagine.
